Having more than one pair of wedding shoes may seem indulgent, but brides these days on average now have three pairs for their big day. Wedding shoes now not only have be comfortable, look great and make the bride feel like a million dollars for at least 12 hours, but also have to deal with issues such as weather and dancing.

When it comes to wedding shoe fashion, designs do not change as often as fashion trends on the high street, but you will see influences crossing into the designs, from beads, flowers and styles such as peep toe or crystal slingbacks.

Deciding on how many pairs or designs of wedding shoes to have is just one of the many issues a bride has to face when completing their wedding outfit. Concerns range from what to wear for your beach wedding to how tall you will be next to the groom once in your Gina stilettos, brides are now even opting for designer white wellies to get them to the venue and once there changing into high heels for the event before switching to low heels for the nights activities.

More general concerns when trying to choose your wedding shoes are; colour, fit, size and how long will it take to get them dyed or made. Many wedding shoe manufacturers these days can even make your shoe colour exactly the same as your dress by just sending them a swatch of the material.

With regards to wedding shoe colour tastes are still very conservative with white or ivory leading the way. Popular alternatives to the standard colours for a bit more glitz are silver and gold; by choosing a pair in these colours you have the option to wear them out as party shoes after your wedding day.

In terms of pricing you really can spend as little or as much as you like on your wedding shoes. As a guide a good pair will start around £60 rising to well over £300 if you want a bespoke pair, but be warned these can take anything up to 8 weeks to be ready.

Some quick tips for comfortable wedding shoes, the best time of day to try and buy your shoes is in the afternoon, when your feet have warmed up and will be similar to how they would be on your big day. To make sure they are really comfortable put on a pair of pop socks, then your wedding shoes and put your feet up and watch TV, this way they’ll be broken in, but still look perfect. On the day you can put some talc in the toe of the shoe to keep your feet cool, which will hopefully all go to help you have a fabulous day! Good luck.
