I visited Morgan Davies recently in Hitchin after visiting a fair few shops in my hunt for the perfect wedding dress. Well, what can I say except I was stunned with the appalling lady who dealt with my dress appointment - her name was Sonia - avoid her at all costs!

She started off OK, if a little sharp, but after about 10-15 minutes she suddenly became more abrupt, rude to both myself and my two friends. Made no attempt to hide her rolling eyes and curt manner each time I asked her something. I was looking for a fishtail dress in particular but she told me they didn't have more than one or two, so I dully selected what they had and a couple of others to try. None were suitable.

Toward the end of my appointment my two friends pulled out another dress which was PERFECT, exactly what I had told the lady I wanted and was in budget. I tried it on and loved it. Why hadn't she suggested it?! She made us feel like she just wanted us out of the shop, she had no patience - if she was having a bad day it's not my fault - I don't expect to be treated in that manner anywhere, least of all a wedding dress shop!

Now, the dress had a feature at the back - we asked if this is how it's designed as the fabric falls over a small bow... she told us it was only doing that because it had been tried on so much - this didn't ring true for me as it was too low on the train to be affected by anyone trying the dress on. She also told me the ridge at my waist which I could see was down to the basque she gave me to wear and it wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't wearing one. Hmmm.

I've since tried the same dress in another shop and found both things she said were untrue, the floppy bow was indeed a design feature and the ridge was due to the internal corset showing through because of the light fabric used on the dress. So she was in fact talking rubbish, as I suspected.

Another point I'd like to share, when I asked her about alterations she they have a list of seamstresses you can choose from - a word of warning - I was told I'd need to pay in full for the dress then deal directly with a seamstress. Would they want to know if there were any issues with the dress after this? I doubt it very much - they have the money, it's no longer their problem.

The shop looks lovely from the outside - very contemporary - however the dealings I had there left a very sour taste in my mouth so if you want my advice steer clear!
