Elegant Weddings

If you want your big day to be sophisticated and chic, then make sure you plan yourself an elegant wedding.
The Flowers
If you’re having an elegant wedding, then it’s best to keep the florals as simple as you can-white flowers with some foliage are perfect for elegant weddings. White Hydrangeas look effortlessly gorgeous when combined with Snowberries. Amaryllis is a great flower to use if you want to add a little bit of colour, and look stunning in either red or white when put together with some lovely Gardinias. For a more classic, romantic touch to your bouquet then maybe add some white Sweet Avalanche roses to your mix.
The Cake
As with most aspects of an elegant wedding, it’s best to keep the cake as simple as you can. Whilst some of you may think that simple cakes are boring, they are not! Just look at these gorgeous cakes as an example. The trick is to have just the right amount of detailing, such as fine ribbons or a few simple flowers.
Centerpieces and Decorations
In order to keep the effortless sophistication of your wedding, it’s best not to use a lot of colours within your centerpieces and venue decorations. Whites with olive greens or dusty pinks can look gorgeous at an elegant wedding. By keeping the colours simple, you’ll be able to have slightly more extravagant decorations-such as these gorgeous flowers which were wound around the pillars of a marquee. Or if you aren’t a huge fan of flowers, then you can find some beautiful candlesticks, which will look ever-so-chic.
Look The Part
The Dress
The perfect dress style for an elegant wedding is a sleek mermaid dress. The key to looking fabulous in a mermaid dress is simply finding the right type of dress. For example, girls with a big bust and small hips should try an off-the-shoulder dress, or a gown with a deep v-neck. Or girls with a smaller bust should try to wear a strapless gown. Make sure you have the right underwear on too, as these tight dresses can emphasise lumps and bumps if you wear the wrong underwear!
The Shoes
Don’t ruin the elegant look with the wrong shoes! Steer clear of wild embellishments and stick to simple court shoes or shoes with delicate straps in order to look beautifully elegant. For a classic look, then opt for some simple court shoes, or shoes with a pointed toe, such as these gorgeous shoes.
For something a little different, then why not try these cut out shoes from Belle by Paradox or opt for a pair of shoes with some delicate straps, such as these Benjamin Adams shoes.
Hair and Make-up
Updo’s are perfect for elegant weddings, so why not try something like a classic chignon. By having your hair up in a chignon knot, you can show off your gorgeous dress, and you can easily accessorize your hair too, with a chic hairclip. Don’t spoil the look by getting the make-up wrong. For an elegant wedding you can either go for a natural look, using natural colours. Or, for a more dramatic look, try to create the smokey eye look using charcoal grey and black eyeshadows.
