A one woman Superman

Superman has his fair share of powers: he is faster than a speeding bullet, has x-ray vision and can even hurl an entire planet through space, but whether or not he has the ability to navigate a successful marriage is a question yet to be considered.

This interesting poser could soon have an answer, however, as the star of the most recent instalment of the Man of Steel's movie franchise, Brandon Routh, is engaged.

The actor popped the question to Courtney Ford, his girlfriend of three years, earlier this month, with a $42,000 (£22,200) rock, presumably not made from kryptonite, from LA jeweller Neil Lane.

A spokesman for the Superman star said: "They are very happy."

Routh met his bride-to-be as he was working as a barman at the rehearsal dinner for her brother's wedding.

The couple are expected to hold their wedding this autumn, and those interested in getting a look at the pair can see them in the upcoming short film Denial, in which they will be co-starring.

Commenting on his relationship, the movie star admitted he is not so super when faced with certain feminine charms, saying of his fiancee: "She brings me to my knees."
