Cheryl says no to pre-nups

Cheryl Tweedy – now Mrs Cheryl Cole - said she refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement ahead of her wedding last week to footballer Ashley Cole.

The 23-year-old Girls Aloud singer said that she thought such things were "disgusting".

Speaking to OK! magazine, the star said: "I could understand if you're 93 and you've got billions of pounds and this 24-year-old wants to marry you in a month."

Instead, she said that she felt that constant work on the marriage was the best way to approach married life and did not wish to look ahead for it ending.

She also has other traditional views on marriage, saying that now she was had a husband she was to take 25-year-old Ashley's surname.

However, she did defy convention by selling the exclusive photography rights to her wedding to the magazine for £1,000,000, which helped cover the cost of last Friday's £500,000 nuptials.
