Couple enjoy A-list celebration

A couple from Darwen, east Lancashire, were given the star treatment on their wedding day when celebs such as Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton turned up to witness their nuptials, the Blackburn Citizen reports.

Gary Aspden, a senior lifestyle promotions manager for Adidas, married his yoga-instructor fiancee Samantha Drouin in a registry office in Chelsea, London.

Through his job Gary meets many famous faces, including David Beckham and Madonna, helping them decide which new Adidas products they would like to promote by wearing in the public eye.

When he announced his intention to marry, many of his newfound famous friends agreed to attend the wedding and celebrate his special day with him.

Celebrity guests included ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, Happy Mondays lead singer Shaun Ryder, model Jade Jagger, The Specials singer Terry Hall, snooker champ Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ian Broudie from the Lightning Seeds, Texas lead singer Sharlene Spiteri, and band members from The Coral.

Gary, 36, told the Blackburn Citizen that people travelled from as far away as Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris and Germany to be at the ceremony.

"We were just as blown away by the fact that so many famous faces wanted to be there with us," he said. "We were very privileged Terry Hall agreed to be our wedding singer and serenaded us with Burt Bacharach."

He added: "Apart from the official photographers, we put a no photo note on the invitations as we wanted to protect everyone's privacy and make sure it could be relaxed and everyone could just enjoy themselves. It was an amazing day."
