Flower fighters save the day
In a story to set any girl's heart thumping, gallant firemen rescued a bride's flowers so that her big day would not be ruined.

An early morning blaze at the Cowdray Centre, in Colchester, Essex ripped through 70 shops, including florist Flowers by Anne Goldschmidt.

However, despite the blaze being severe enough to require 100 firefighters and 15 pumps, a few managed to get into the florists before it was too late.

"They went into the flower shop to get the flowers," said an Essex Fire Brigade spokeswoman in the Sunday Mirror.

"It's one nice aspect to this fire."

Although the bride now has her bouquet for her big day, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
