Jamelia plans simple wedding

Pop star Jamelia has revealed that her wedding to footballer Darren Byfield will be a simple affair.

Speaking at the Mobo Awards in London, the singer said she wants to avoid having a typical footballer's wife's wedding and doesn't intend to make a big song and dance of proceedings, reports ITV.

"That's not what we're aiming for, it will be just a nice, simple affair," she said.

The couple intend to tie the knot next summer and Jamelia has revealed that her two daughters are excited by the prospect of being bridesmaids.

As well as allowing Darren to hold back on the spending for the wedding, Jamelia also gave her fiance an early birthday present at the Mobos.

The Millwall striker had previously been banned from watching the performances of fellow star Rihanna, with Jamelia saying she is too pretty.

However, as Darren's birthday is approaching he was allowed to watch her sing SOS at the award ceremony.

"I have allowed him to sit in the audience when she performs. She is way too gorgeous and it's so unfair. His birthday is next week so he's allowed to watch her today," added Jamelia.
