Murray a man of his word
Tennis star Andy Murray has proved that he is a man of his word by buying his friend and doubles partner James Auckland a £1,000 plasma screen TV as a wedding gift.

Prior to the Scotsman's big game against American Andy Roddick at Wimbledon this year, his pal told him that he only had two gifts left on his wedding list – a big-screen television and a toilet brush.

The two then agreed to a bet that if Murray beat Roddick he would buy his friend the TV and if he didn't then he would only fork out for the toilet brush.

After emerging victorious from the crunch match, the tennis player stayed true to his word and bought the couple a 32-inch Sony Bravia television, which promptly turned up on the doorstep of their Kensington home.

James said: "I was surprised because it is such a big gift. But then again he made the mistake of making it public so that meant he had to go through with it."

Unfortunately Andy Murray's Wimbledon journey ended soon after his victory against Roddick as he was knocked out in the next round.

His doubles partner's adventure in marriage has only just begun, however, following he and his bride's wedding in Guildford on July 22nd.
