Nice day for a webcam wedding
Missing someone's wedding because of travel restrictions could soon become a thing of the past if more churches follow in the footsteps of Glasgow University Chapel.

The chaplain, Reverend Stuart McQuarrie, decided to fit a webcam in his church at the request of former students who are now living abroad, reports the Times Online.

The scheme has been so successful that a number of other churches are planning to install the cameras and help bring people together for the couple's big day.

One example of the webcams' positive impact is the fact that the grandmother of a bride who was too ill to attend her granddaughter's wedding ceremony could still watch it on a laptop from her hospital bed.

"The webcams are a great way of making sure that they don't miss out on seeing their loved one's big day," says Rev McQuarrie.

"One woman, who is living in Turkey, was able to log on and watch the blessing ceremony to mark her parents' 50th year of marriage.

"Not only was she able to watch the whole thing but she was able to talk to her parents through microphones before and after the ceremony," he added.
