A new bride found the perfect way to get her marriage off to a good start, by getting her new husband a pair of tickets to the World Cup final. Fiona Lewars, 27, bought the tickets for football-mad Alistair, 29, after he mentioned to his fiancee how much he would like to see the final, the Daily Record reports.
"It was around Christmas and I told Alistair he'd got the tickets in a personal letter from Santa," Fiona told the paper.
"It was a bit of a sweat until they actually turned up. But they made it in time for our wedding in April."
She had a contact in Germany but was uncertain if the tickets would appear in time for the wedding.
However, her contact came through and the pair flew to Berlin this weekend to watch Italy beat France.
"All my mates were jealous. I really do have a world-class woman to thank," boasted Alistair.
