Wedding day car-tastrophes
Perhaps brides and grooms-to-be should opt for a horse drawn carriage to get them to the church on time. At least it won't break down.

Research from RAC reveals that one in ten of those who travel to their wedding ceremony by car experience transport hitches. That's almost 5,000 weddings every summer that are affected by car-tastrophes.

In a survey of couples preparing for their big day, just four per cent said they were worried about their wedding car breaking down. Instead they listed bad weather, being jilted at the altar, and the best man losing the rings as their worst wedding day fears.

But if RAC's findings are anything to go by they should be more concerned about their transport plans. Indeed couples are almost three times more likely to break down on their way to church than the best man is to lose the rings.

"In my experience of rescuing distraught brides and grooms stranded at the side of the road, I've always been surprised at how easily people can forget to check their car before setting out," says RAC patrolman Prakesh Patel.

"As our survey reveals, almost a quarter of couples don't check their vehicle is in good working order the night before getting married and with more than one in six people travelling to weddings in their own car, that's just asking for trouble!"
